Late Shri Kundan Lal Ji, founder of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Ludhiana, was a visionary, patriot, and educationist. A self-made man, he gave up his prestigious ICS career to join the freedom movement and later established successful businesses. His passion for education, especially for girls, led him to start a school in his home, which soon grew into Kundan Vidya Mandir in 1956—the first CBSE-affiliated school in Punjab. In 1949, he founded a charitable trust to expand educational opportunities across the state. His legacy of excellence, integrity, and service lives on through Kundan Vidya Mandir and Kundan International School, Chandigarh (established 2007), both dedicated to his ideals of quality education and nation-building.
